Today is my very last day helping out at the home school center here in Sungai Petani. These kids have taught me so much about how important it is to have fun, what it means to ask good questions, and how to embrace who God has made me to be, unashamed and without silencing the traits God has gifted me with.
There is nothing more humbling than being friends with 7 year olds. They say what they think and they say it straight to your face. There is no hiding and there is no holding back from curiosity. So if you ever need an honest opinion, go hang out with 7 year olds.
This group of students never gets board with a game. Every break we have, it’s time to play. It has been our honor to introduce them to so many new classic games like heads-up-7-up, ninja, telephone, sharks and minnows, poisonous dart frog, and would you rather. What a blessing to get to laugh and share a little bit of my childhood with these kids.
I’m not gonna’ lie, I am so sad to leave my 9 students. I’m getting ready for the waterworks to kick in when I finally actually realize I’m leaving.
I pray that these kids will continue to see God’s faithfulness all the days of their lives and that they will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
We will be hopping onto a bus Monday night to Singapore. There we will reunite with the other half of the squad that has been in Indonesia! And from there….THE UNITED STATES!
One sweet thing from last week;
In my last blog I talked about meeting Sondra, the Hindu man, on the hike we went on. Well, last week we got to go and visit his school! It was honestly one of my favorite days in Malaysia. We went and took part in a talking club with over 180 high school students so that they could practice their English. More than that, we got to make friends and connections with so many amazing people. The students at the school were so enthusiastic and curious. The hour we had for the club slipped away in the blink of an eye. I wish we had enough time to go back and visit them again.
The school board said that any World Race team can come back there any time! God is so faithful to open doors and bring more opportunities. Everything done under him will bear fruit.
On top of that, we have been praying for more teachers to volunteer and teach at the refugee school at the church. God answered our prayers, Sondra is going to work there when he retires!
Please be praying that everything goes smoothly.
So even though we have to leave soon, God is still moving and working in Malaysia!
Amen!
Love, Rosella
