Buenas dias!
We made it to Guatemala! It feels so good to be launched into our out of country adventure at last. Guatemala feels very familiar and homelike even though I have never been here before. At first I was nervous because my Spanish is no bueno. However I have learned that I actually remember a lot more than I thought and everybody here is super gracious and helpful as I stumble through my words.
The base where we are staying is perfect! Each team has their own room with bunk beds and a bathroom. There is an awning that goes along the building where we hung all of our hammocks. There are 36 volcanos in Guatemala and we can see a few of them (some of them smoking) from our base and ministry.
A day in the life of me at the moment goes like this:
5:45 wake up and work out, 7:00 breakfast (so so so yummy), 9:00 get in the van with Manuel our driver and head 40 minutes to San Antonio Guatemala, ministry ranges each day from playing soccer, doing devotionals, gardening, house visits, teaching English, and playing games with kids. We head home in the quick paced and close call Guatemala traffic. Dinner, hang out time, team time, bible study. We have weekends to reset and spend time with each other and in the Word.
For anyone who has not been to Guatemala I would highly recommend a trip. The culture is highly relationship oriented which is super sweet. People are open armed towards new comers and love to share their lives with each other and us. It is a beautiful picture and very different from the individualistic Seattle I know. Something I would love to bring back with me is the culture of being willing to connect with everybody you interact with in a day.
Much love, Rosella

What a great place to work, read, pray, and play!
