I am thriving! God is so present I this place and I feel right at home living out of my familiar tent surrounded by bubbly people.
Everything is always a bit sticky because it is so humid, but it’s a nice change from the Seattle rain.
Part of training is that they run you through scenarios every now and then. So two dinners ago, they announced that our team had to have every thing airport ready by 7:00 the next morning. Mind you we had just got everything all set up. But we woke up early the next morning and packed up camp, keeping only our daypacks with things for our allotted showers later that day.
After a run, bucket showers (brisk and refreshing out of Home Depot buckets),worship, prayer, a few lessons and meals we returned to camp. Our leaders were there to announce that “we just got off our plane and half of our luggage seems to have gone missing in TSA.” Haha! It wasn’t all that bad, it ended up we only missed it for a night and a day, so the team worked together to house those without tents and lend each other everything we needed, although we didn’t share toothbrushes.
Between camping, great time to learn about what Jesus is really all about, and good time with amazing people, our first four-ish days seem to have been a success.
Love,
Rosella
I love that they are challenging you with “scenarios”– so appropriate, because you will likely encounter any number of unexpected situations as you travel…learning to go with the flow, and to trust that you have the flexibility and creativity, as well as spiritual protection and guidance, to handle whatever comes at you is essential to your sense of well-being as a world traveler. You go, Rosie! .
